For many years, I enjoyed all the excitement at my church. Then about 30 years ago, my church fell silent as the last church service was held and then abandoned. My church was in a sad state of disrepair - so bad that there was a demolition order placed on my building.

I scurried into the village of Belfountain and recruited a number of citizens to save my church from the wrecking ball. The Belfountain Heritage Society came to my rescue and restored my church to its former glory.  This is one of the oldest remaining timber frame churches in Ontario dating from 1837.

Once again, I can sleep at night, safe at home!

TODAY with the help of generous donations from FRIENDS and COMPANIES, the TRILLIUM FOUNDATION, the ONTARIO HERITAGE FOUNDATION, the BELFOUNTAIN HERITAGE SOCIETY has:
• raised the church;
• constructed a new foundation;
• completed a beautiful new cedar shingle roof;
• refurbished the windows;
• new lighting;
• renovated ceilings, walls and a new vestibule;
• new pews (purchased from a former Caledon Presbyterian;
• new pine floor;
• new entrance with double doors;
• restored the balcony;
• acquired an electric organ.

We have had several WEDDINGS, an ARTS FESTIVAL, a MUSIC RECITAL, READINGS, and two McLACHLAN CLAN gatherings. Inquiries and bookings continue to be made for weddings and other events.
